Timothy M. Whalen, Intellectual Property Attorney

 
 

Tim has been an intellectual property attorney since 2003.  His practice focuses primarily on patent preparation and prosecution in a wide variety of industries and technological areas, with emphasis in the mechanical and chemical arts; U.S. and foreign trademark and trade dress prosecution; and licensing, development, confidentiality, and settlement agreement negotiation.  Tim also has substantial experience performing patentability, trademark registrability, and clearance/infringement analyses.  Tim provides both U.S. and international clients with advice on enterprise-wide IP development and management procedures, and IP acquisition and resource allocation strategies.

Tim earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Willamette University, in Salem, Oregon.  After graduating from Willamette, Tim worked with faculty and students in the Chemistry Department at the University of Nevada in Reno to develop the instructional organic laboratory curriculum, and to test and integrate new laboratory techniques and instrumentation.

Tim earned his J.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles.  While in law school at UCLA, Tim worked on the UCLA Law Review, first as Executive Editor, and then as Chief Articles Editor.  He also served as Treasurer for UCLA’s Journal of Law and Technology.  Tim joined DASCENZO Intellectual Property Law, P.C. as an Of Counsel attorney in 2010.
